Naturopahts Top Secret 3 Remedies For Stomach Ache

The health of our stomach is so important, it's connected to your overall health. Whether you suffer from depression, anxiety, poor immune function, inflammatory issues, poor energy, or skin problems ALL will be linked to the health of your stomach and its ability to absorb nutrients.

During my years as a health practitioner I can honestly say that stomach issues were one of the most common reasons people came to seek help. I had the privilege of trying many products, and observing my patients on their healing journey. So i want to share with you my top three remedies that i found most effective. I also have these three remedies in my cupboard at home at all times for myself and loved ones.

Always Address The Cause

Stomach pain can be due to many reasons. I wont go into too much detail in this post because the list is long, but you need to address the underlying cause otherwise these remedies may just be a temporary band aid. Reasons such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Crohn's disease, cealiac, parasites, viruses, etc. Although the following suggested remedies will give you relief of stomach ache fast, you should consider this time out from symptoms, to look further into finding out the reason why.

Also, always keep an open mind because we are constantly learning about how the human body works, and of course, how your body responds. In my humble opinion this is what Iv been taught, and what I have observed:

1. Aloe vera

Aloe vera is great for soothing an irritated stomach. It helps to regulate digestion and elimination. It has many other benefits because its full on nutrients that support the nervous system, adrenals, skin, other organs. I saw many people who had issues with their stomach benefit greatly by taking aloe vera. Please note that not all aloe vera products are equal. The outer skin can cause laxative effects. So the ideal product should only contain the inner gel. Or, its best just to grow your own!



2.  L-Glutamine

Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in the body, so that fact in itself indicates that we need replenish it frequently. Glutamine acts as fuel for all stomach and intestinal cells. It is extremely important for the stomach lining and helps to increase absorption of nutrients.

Glutamine once in the stomach, actually passes directly into the brain so is a fantastic nutrient for people who have associated depression or anxiety with their stomach ache. Once in the brain it helps us to calm down, and think more clearly. It also brilliant for eliminating sugar, carbohydrate, and alcohol cravings! Its fantastically soothing for a highly irritated gut too.

Do you sometimes get stomach ache after exercising? The reason could be because glutamine is stored in muscles and is required for recovery. If you exercise strenuously, your need for glutamine increases because you have to repair any muscle damage. Glutamine after exercise will relieve your stomach, muscle pain, and speed recovery!

How about stomach ache associated with feeling run down and like you're getting the flu? Glutamine is an essential in this case because both your stomach and your immune system are indicating they need assistance. Glutamine enhances immune cell function!

After any trauma, many people suffer from stomach ache. The reason is because at times of stress, as much as one third of glutamine present in the muscles may be released. This can lead to significant muscle loss. In this way glutamine helps us maintain muscle mass too.

I usually would take one heaped teaspoon of glutamine in half a glass of water and the relief is instant.

3. Swedish Bitters

I grew up with Swedish Bitters. In fact, its the first remedy i remember my mum giving me when i was a child, to relieve all stomach aches. I didn't know what it was back then, but now after studying and practicing herbal medicine i totally understand the value of that herbal formula!

As the name suggests, Swedish Bitters is a combination of herbs that are predominantly bitter. The bitter taste actually stimulates a reflex in our brain that tells the stomach to produce enzymes, and stomach acid which helps break down food. This formula has been used traditionally by herbalists, to heal a variety of digestive issues dating back to the 1500's. I always wondered why every time i opened up that tincture of Swedish Bitters the smell seemed magical and seemed to take me back to another time in history!

Swedish Bitters can give instant relief but is probably most effective when used every day for a longer period of time because it acts as a tonic to the whole digestive system. Its a fantastic tonic to the stomach which regulates acid production. If stomach acid is insufficient, food can't be broken down into smaller component. Swedish Bitters nourishes your stomach so it can do its job properly and in a balanced manner. Its great for people who have stomach ache perhaps associated with constipation, diarrhea, bloating, or nausea.

I usually would recommend taking a teaspoon of the tincture in half glass of water 20 minutes before meal. However, if stomach ache is present, its is still extremely effective to take at onset of symptoms. Most health food stores sell Swedish Bitters in either 200 ml or 500 ml tincture bottles.



Emotions And Your Stomach

According to Chinese medicine, the emotion of worry is associated with stomach issues. Excessive worrying actually weaken the stomach. Are you excessively worrying? Have you heard people randomly say 'Im having trouble digesting that', referring to a situation in their life?

According to world renowned authors like Louise Hay and geneticist Dr Bruce Lipton, physical symptoms such as stomach ache, are actually evidence of whats going on in your subconscious mind and indicate how you truly are feeling deep inside. So your emotions play a very important role and ensure that your true needs are attended to. If you keep ignoring your subconscious mind it will find another way to get the  message across to you. In this way, your symptoms of stomach ache are actually telling you what needs to be looked at in your life.

If you don't honestly address this, your symptoms may persist and every remedy will be ineffective. Only you will know if this is true for you! Awareness of your emotions also empowers you to take responsibility and stop you feeling like a victim. I believe our body 'talks' to us all the time, we just sometimes don't want to listen!

There are many other effective remedies for easing stomach ache but iv found that i always go back to those basic three. I may combine two of them, or in severe cases all three but I've found them to be the most effective.

Holistic Approach To Stomach Ache

In conclusion, what I'm saying is that we need to address the whole picture. Everything is connected. Its not JUST your stomach.  Getting relief symptoms is a great time out for you to address other possible causes to stop the problem from reoccurring. 

I hope this blog has helped you understand some important aspects of keeping your stomach healthy and why it could be giving you symptoms. And in relation to the stomach, always remember, you're not what you eat, but rather what you absorb!
